Imagine waking up to this view at your hotel in the morning. That’s the famous Independence Hall and down the block is the Liberty Bell. The boutique Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia is located in the historic Old City, home to some of the most historic sights you can find in the U.S. But that’s not the only reason you’re staying at this Kimpton. Besides the grand location, there are the usual Kimpton amenities you’ve become used to, namely comfy rooms, great service, and a 5 ‘wine hour’ where guests are treated to wine around the fire place. (We made a point never to miss it.)

Our doorman, Lawrence, acted as our enthusiastic tour guide, recommending restaurants, places to go and making sure we were bundled up for the weather. (Yes, we visited during the ‘snow bomb.’)

Feel like taking a bike ride? The hotel has loaner bikes for you, plus each room has a yoga mat to encourage you to exercise while you travel. If you’re a member of the hotel group, your Wifi is free. It’s also pet-friendly so you can bring Rover with you.

Locals will tell about the Stratus restaurant / outdoor lounge on the top of the hotel, which is a lovely spot to have a dinner or just a cocktail but due to the freezing temperatures, we didn’t get a chance to try it out.

After touring the City of Brotherly Love, it’s wonderful to come back to the inviting hotel and join guests around the fire for a restorative drink. Why stay anywhere else?
