If you have a pet that is anxious about loud noises, ie. fireworks, you dread the July 4th holiday. Some animals are so scared they try escape hurting themselves in the process, or worse, being run over by a car.
One town in Italy aims to change that by making a law that all fireworks in their town of Collecchio must be silent. It’s a way of reducing the stress that the loud noises cause to animals–not just pets, but wildlife, as well, explained the Mayor.
A company called Setti Fireworks that makes these silent explosives and can customize them for each event. We have three rescue dachshunds and while Lola and Maggie snore their way through the July 4th booming, our littlest rescue, Chelsea, shakes and cowers. Even with a Thunder shirt, I still need to hold her until the fireworks cease. And we’re not alone.
