Just in: Hurricane Irma is now a Category 5 storm and Florida’s Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency. As the hurricane heads towards the U.S., it could make landfall in Florida, Georgia or the Carolinas.

Authorities warned that the storm could dump up to 10 inches of rain, cause landslides and flash floods and generate waves of up to 23 feet.
