Saying he wasn’t a hero, but merely did what others would do when faced with a gunman with an AR-15, James Shaw Jr, 29, fought back tears at a Nashville Church.

‘I’m just a regular guy, I never thought I’d be up here at the pulpit looking all of you in the eyes,’ he said before he needed to pause.

Holding his four-year-old daughter Brooklyn, Shaw recounted how he rushed the shooter, Travis Reinking now in custody after the gunman had shot four people dead.

‘I acted in a blink of a second. When he reloaded his clip, that felt like 30 minutes. I looked at him, and he wasn’t looking at me. He just had the barrel down. It was like, ‘Do it now. Go now.’ I just took off,’ he told the New York Times.

Survivors have set up a GoFundMe to reward him for his bravery, raising $50,000 in nine hours. If you want to contribute to the hero’s fund the link is here.
