Jennifer Lawrence

After Award shows the big question everyone is asking themselves is : “How do I get that look?” Even if you’re not walking the red carpet, we have tips from expert makeup artist Jessica Scantlin on how to achieve your best glam look.

‘This year’s Oscars showed beautiful makeup trends including, dewy and glowing skin on Jennifer Lawrence, bold lips on Kerry Washington, and an amazingly beautiful and sultry smokey-eye on Sandra Bullock,’  says Jessica, who is the makeup expert  from Blushington, Southern California’s go-to makeup and beauty lounge. (We go to the one in West Hollywood on Sunset but there’s also one in OC at Fashion Island.)

“To get Jennifer Lawrence dewy skin, first apply primer (BECCA Illuminating Skin Perfector works great) to get a glow before the makeup. Next, apply your foundation and set it with a light translucent powder and on top of cheekbones, nose and above eyebrows (my favorite is Becca Pressed Skin Perfector in Moonstone). This will give you a beautiful sheen look, while also providing you with the coverage you want, appearing fresh-faced instead of cakey.”

Kerry Washington 2

“If you choose the dark berry lip like Kerry Washington, keep it lighter on the eyes and keep the lip the main focus. When you opt for the orange peachy lip you can play up the eyes a but more with a subtle bronze or warm tones.”

Sandra Bullock

“To achieve Sandra Bullock‘s smokey eye start with a dark base, like Stila Smudge Pot in Bronze, and go over that with a dark brown like Julie Hewett in Brunette, next buff out with Stila Shadow Eden so the edges are not harsh. To add depth and drama to the outer corners, apply Black Chandelier by Julie Hewett, a beautiful grey/black, and blend. Keep a hint of shimmer to inner corners with Backstage by Julie Hewett this way you provide your eyes with a little lightness. Finish with smudging black eyeliner like Stila in Stingray.”
