Who thought this was a good idea? Tobacco flavored vodka? Frustrated smokers? Ex-smokers?
The company boasts that it is first to the market with tobacco flavored vodka. No kidding. Reportedly already popular in Europe, the smokey vodka is the brain-child of the “Ivanabitch” vodka company, which as you can tell by the name, likes to do things a little differently. Afterall, their motto is “Vodka with Attitude.”
With cocktail recipes with the names like “Dirty ‘Bitch,” “Power ‘Bitch” and “Twisted ‘Bitch” it would be easy to dismiss the straight vodka, but that would be a shame. It’s good. Made in Holland (the grains are from Russia) and charcoal-filtered and distilled five times, it’s smooth with a clean finish. If the website is to be believed, the distillation process makes Ivanabitch “one of the clearest vodkas in the world while, at the same time, giving it its singularly pure taste and trademark smooth finish.” It’s also one of the most reasonably priced vodkas.
So we asked a few friends what they thought, and Linda K. from N.Y. pretty much summed up the consensus:
“First of all, EWWWW! Second of all, where do they sell it? I’m thinking Siberia. Third of all, EWWWW! Fourth of all, does it leave a dark stain on your teeth and give you bad breath and I could go on but please, do, stop me now!”
Oh yeah, they have flavored vodkas — Vanilla, Whipped Cream, Blackberry, Red Berry, Orange, Lemmon, Coconut, Peach, Dutch Apple, and Cherry — but all everyone is talking about it the tobacco (it even comes in “Menthol”) branding. Which after all, might be the point. As they say “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.”
As the site is quick to point out, their tobacco flavored vodka doesn’t contain nicotine. That would be crazy, right?
