According to the Hollywood Reporter, the little wedding movie that could – “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” — is making a sequel! Opa!
Aunt Voula: What do you mean he don’t eat no meat?
[the entire room stops, in shock]
Aunt Voula: Oh, that’s okay. I make lamb.
Creator/star Nia Vardalos and co-star John Corbett are already attached to the production, says the Reporter and ‘everyone’ including original producers Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will be back for this one. (We hear the new script will focus on a family secret and a new wedding.)
We’ve heard rumors of a sequel for ages, but Vardalos told the Huff Post recently:
“(I)t’s only now that I’ve really become open to the idea (of a sequel). … But then when John (Corbett) and I recently sat down to do that interview (for the 10th anniversary Blu-Ray edition of the film), we laughed so hard through the whole thing. It made me think that it’s time. He said, ‘Come on, write something, will you?’ And I now think I will. We have such an easy chemistry together.”
We can’t wait!
