At SXSW, filmmakers screen their ‘babies’ to a receptive crowd, like a mini Sundance without the pressure. And of course usually followed by killer after party.

The casts and crews of director Brett Haley’s SXSW premiere THE HERO and Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau’s hunting documentary TROPHY celebrated their films’ SXSW debuts with a cocktail reception at A-List Communications’ popup Supper Suite at Austin hot spot Summit this past weekend.  Indie distributor Orchard Films is distributing both films.

Lucky guests enjoyed Maestro Dobel® Tequila’s signature Black Diamond Margaritas with Hawaiian black salt and the “Dobel South by Supper Suite” cocktails and The Family Coppola’s Diamond Collection wines—Diamond Collection Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, and the winery’s flagship red Bordeaux blend, Claret.  Oh yes, there was also a pop-up taco bar,

In THE HERO, Sam Elliot (THE HULK) stars as Lee Hayden, an ailing movie star who comes to terms with his past and mortality.  The film also stars Laura Prepon (That 70’s Show), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), and Katharine Ross (THE STEPFORD WIVES; THE GRADUATE; DONNIE DARKO).

TROPHY is an in-depth look into the powerhouse industries of big-game hunting, breeding and wildlife conservation in the U.S. and Africa that unravels the complex consequences of treating animals as commodities.
