It takes something special to get us to make the trek from the beach to Pasadena but the grand opening of the Chuan spa in the Langham Huntington Hotel was well worth the hike.
At 11,000 square feet, it is both the largest and perhaps the most luxurious salon we’ve ever visited. Not only that, but they offer treatments you won’t find elsewhere, such as the Mistral LHE which uses a highly advanced blend of light and heat for an anti-aging facial therapy. ( We took a spin at getting gets rid of brown spots on the back of our hands, but it’s effective anywhere on the body.)
While guests snacked on light bites from the ‘Chuan Lifestyle’ menu, demonstrations from Mistral LHE, PRIORI®, Kerstin Florian, HydraFacial MD, Deborah Lippmann and La Bella Donna took place in the Salon area.
Guests enjoyed hand massages, make-up refreshers, eye de-puffers, and cutting-edge laser demos. Based on the Chinese Five Elements – wood, earth, metal, fire and water — the treatments were created exclusively by a Chinese healthcare expert who specializes in Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy and traditional Chinese massage therapies. To discover your “element” the spa has you fill out a personalized form on your first visit.
The event featured a silent auction that benefitted the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund where guests bid on luxe prizes including gift sets from Kerstin Florian, PRIORI®, ZIRH, Mistral LHE products and Deborah Lippmann as well as a private shopping party at JOIE, “A Day in the Sun” package with swimwear from Gottex and Ondademar as well as overnight packages featuring spa treatments at Chuan Spas around the world including The Langham, London; The Langham, Melbourne; The Langham, Xintiandi in Shanghai; The Langham Place, Mongkok in Hong Kong, to name a few.
After feeling so healthy just by association, we felt free to indulge at the sweets table!
