If you took a news-free weekend, here’s what you missed. At a rally, President Trump Friday, in a bizarre rant, went after players who knelt during the national anthem, berating  NFL coaches whom he said should get the “son of a b—-” players off the field. His comments misfired, as they usually do, only creating a backlash from players, coaches, and even owners.

Though Tom Brady did not take a knee, he Instagrammed his support for players who kneel during the national anthem writing,  ‘brotherhood’. ‘Strength. Passion. Love. Brotherhood. Team. Unity. Commitment. Dedication. Determination. Respect. Loyalty. Work. #nflplayer.’

On Sunday, Trump tweeted:

‘If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!’

At least 200 players across the country either knelt or sat during the anthem in protest.
